Since working with School Space, we’ve seen an increase in the use of the site by various community groups which includes children from within the academy. The income generated has been invested in various additional student facing and operational elements of the academy life. For example, redecoration of parts of the academy, resources for books and revisions materials for students and adding resources to our sustainability agenda.

Frequently Asked Questions
What school lettings services do you provide?
At School Space, our core service is fully managed school lettings, where we take responsibility for the entire process. This includes managing all marketing, bookings, staffing, payments, safeguarding, compliance and customer support so schools can generate income while reducing administrative workload. We provide enhanced DBS-checked onsite staff who are comprehensively trained specifically to look after your unique site. We also offer partial outsourcing options, including a Staff-it-yourself model and Consultancy services, depending on how much support your school needs.
What are the benefits of community lettings?
At School Space, we believe every school should be able to safely and efficiently open its spaces to the local community, while they remain focused on education. We help schools unlock the full potential of their facilities and become the go-to venue for local events.
There are many advantages beyond income generation to supplement school budgets. Schools that use our services benefit from professional outsourcing of school lettings, ensuring smooth operations, compliance, and safety.
As a social enterprise and one of the UK’s leading school lettings companies, social impact is at the heart of our mission. Our partners often see an enhanced local reputation, increased engagement with parents and students, and a vibrant program of activities during evenings and weekends, helping the wider community stay active and connected.
How do I choose a trusted school lettings supplier?
Choosing the right school lettings company can make a big difference in generating income and engaging your local community. The best school lettings suppliers not only help schools hire out facilities like sports halls, pitches, theatres, and classrooms outside teaching hours but also ensure smooth, reliable operations and a positive experience for all. It’s important to look for a provider that is trusted by its schools, hirers, and staff, delivers consistent revenue growth, offers transparent reporting, maintains the highest safeguarding standards and builds positive, long-term community use of your facilities.

What do you charge?
At School Space, we typically operate on a share of lettings income, which means there are no upfront costs and zero risk of lettings costing your school money. We’re a school lettings company that focuses on maximising income for every partner school and we put together bespoke proposals that clearly show how we will generate the highest possible revenue from your facilities.
If you’re concerned about sharing income, it’s worth remembering that managing lettings in-house comes with hidden costs – staffing, administration, systems and marketing. Partnering with us offers a smart, low-risk choice that ensures your school keeps more profit while reducing operational workload and internal costs.
How do you attract hirers and generate bookings?
We’re not your average school lettings provider – we provide more than just a bookings platform and local marketing. While many companies rely on inbound enquiries, we focus on filling underutilised spaces with the types of hirers your school wants to attract. Our 6:1 school-to-sales-exec ratio allows us to conduct targeted outreach, stay attuned to local trends, and manage bookings efficiently through our bespoke-built bookings platform.
We’ve delivered fully managed school lettings services since 2011, building a strong network of local and national community groups. This, along with our targeted marketing campaigns across email, social media, digital ads and print media, allows us to deliver consistent revenue growth for your school.
How do you manage our hirers?
At School Space, we’re experienced in managing existing school lettings customers as well as bringing in new community groups. All customers are carefully vetted, including insurance, safeguarding, and British values checks, and we ensure every event is suitable for your school.
Working closely with each school, we maintain and strengthen your existing relationships, while maximising community engagement and leveraging our network of trusted partners. Our aim at every stage of the partnership is to ensure that lettings run smoothly, benefit your school, and complement your current users rather than disrupt them.
How do you ensure safeguarding and security onsite?
At School Space, we take safeguarding and site security extremely seriously. We ensure all staff and hirers are rigorously vetted, trained in safeguarding, and DBS-checked. Our Community Connectors remain on-site during all lettings to supervise activities, manage access, and enforce compliance with KCSIE, British Values, and Prevent guidance.
We maintain robust incident reporting, spot checks, and key management procedures, supported by our HR team and partners like ISO 45001-accredited WorkNest, to provide schools with confidence in full legislative compliance. This approach ensures children, vulnerable adults, and school communities are always safe, while bookings run smoothly and securely.
Will my school spaces be left as found after bookings?
We ensure every school space is returned clean, tidy, and ready for the next school day. As a trusted school lettings supplier, we use trained Community Connectors, school-specific checklists, before-and-after photos, and on-call support to monitor and maintain standards. Hirers are required to follow our Terms & Conditions, and any non-compliance is logged and addressed to prevent future issues. For large events, we coordinate professional cleaning, ensuring your facilities are always left as found.
What level of oversight will our school have?
We have a bespoke booking system to manage lettings, and provide as many logins as needed for free as part of our service. You have full visibility of customer usage and regular income and impact reporting each term. Our School Operations Manager will have a close relationship with your site team, as well as our School Success Manager, who is available for income updates and contractual progress meetings throughout the partnership.
How quickly can we start?
Provided that your facilities meet the threshold for our service, we can start straight away. Our structured onboarding process, which can take as little as 4-8 weeks, sets your school up for smooth, successful bookings, whether we’re implementing a new lettings programme or taking over existing arrangements. Contact us for a personalised timeline based on your individual school’s needs.
